Lorraine Airport: + 14% on Global Traffic in 2018

Airport, Metz, Nancy, Lorraine

The Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport last year welcomed 280,411 passengers , nearly 14% increase on the overall traffic and a result that had not been achieved since 2012 (280,743 passengers).

The increase recorded in 2018 by the Lorraine airport is due according to its release in part to the new flights positioned by the airline HOP! Air France on Marseille and Bastia, new frequencies to Algiers with Air Algérie and Casablanca with TUIfly , as well as the increase of the offer on holiday flights with tour operator TUI (Fuerteventura, Agadir, Djerba and Athens) .

The scheduled national traffic in 2018 totals 93,723 passengers , or 53% of the overall scheduled traffic. The new HOP flight! to Marseille operated last spring Embraer 145 (50 seats) at 4 rotations per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays) “found its audience”: it recorded an average of 84% filling and near 13,000 passengers. This flight “was not at the expense” of that proposed by Twin Jet since the results of it are “relatively constant, like those of Toulouse,” says the airport.

Following a new flight to Bastia , an increase in capacity on Calvi (flight operated in CRJ 700 70 seats) and a longer period for Ajaccio (operated a month earlier in the season), Corsica with HOP! will have “worked very well this summer”. Lyon , meanwhile, served by 16 weekly flights all year round, is the 1st regular destination from the platform. It records more than 52,000 passengers. Flights to Nice saw a drop in traffic following the temporary suspension of the connection during the winter 2017/18 season, and the reduction of frequencies for the summer of 2018.
